Question:
How long do I have to wait for my Public Records request to be acknowledged?
Answer:
Absent extraordinary circumstances, the County of Santa Barbara will respond to the request within 10 calendar days of the request to inform you if the record will be provided or an exemption exists. In certain cases where more time is needed for a decision to produce records the agency may notify you of the need for an additional 14 days to respond to the initial request. Actual production time of records depends on the type, work-load and available personnel to available to work on specific requests, but you should receive a general idea when our agency responds.
